That was FANTASTIC! Thank you everyone!

So, the first ever WordCamp in Nepal is officially over. It was a huge success. Over 130 WordPress enthusiasts attended this event. With 16 sessions in 2 separate halls, there was just so much information to grab. 🙂

The event started right at 10am and ended at 5pm, probably the first of its kind in Nepal, as promised! We don’t follow “nepali” time.

There was a surprise visit from Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress, in the opening remarks! Was it a surprise? 😉

Matt at WordCamp Nepal 2012

Philip Arthur Moore, from Automattic, also came to Nepal for this particular WordCamp, just for 48 hours. He gave a very informative 2 sessions on the approaches to Theme Development and contributing to WordPress core. Thanks Philip! We hope to see ya next time as well.

We had a delicious lunch! Plain nepali style! 🙂

I think overall, it was really a good event. As Matt said, WordCamps are casual events where you meet people which you will take along for the entire life. Its happening. All WordPresser’s who were working alone or in small groups and those who run blogs came together and shared a lot of information. I hope everyone learnt a lot from the sessions. I did.

At the end, we can’t thank enough for all our sponsors without whose support, organizing this could not have been possible. Without sponsors, the ticket prices would have been much much higher as well. And without Speakers, there would be no sessions! Thank you all the speakers for sharing so much valuable information. A big thank you to the Volunteers. Wow, it was such a flawless program. Kudos to the all the volunteers. And last but not the least, YOU! All of you who came to this first ever WordCamp in Nepal. It was amazing to see all of you. Thank you for attending! I hope everyone learnt a bit, shared a bit and got inspired a bit to do something from today.

Hope we will meet again soon. Till then, Namaste!
